Meralliance is a marketing and management structure, created in 2002 from the joining of two companies full of history: Narvik and Armoric.
The Armoric company was created in 1971 in Rosporden and taken over by the Miko group in 1979. Four years later, the factory was transferred to new premises in Quimper. In 1994, Armoric was bought by three shareholders: G.Charpentier, F.Thiebault and J.L Chabrol. In 1999, Armoric took over the company Profumer, based in Lorient and specialising in various species of smoked fish and carpaccio.
In 2001, Armoric bought the company Narvik in Ladivisiau. This company, created in 1988 by R. Gad, diversified in the 90s into blinis, tarama, potted meat and carpaccios. In 1997, it was bought by Brioche Pasquier, who launched the surimi business. In 2005 G. Charpentier bought F. Thiebault’s and J. L. Chabrol’s shares to become the majority shareholder.
(9/4/2014) Thai Union Frozen Products PLC (TUF), has announced that it has entered into an agreement to acquire 100 Percent of MerAlliance, a leading European smoked-salmon producer which posted sales of USD 220 million as of ending 31 March, 2014.
