Herring, shrimp and tuna: quota increases and zone changes

Increased sub-quota unit in fishing for North Sea herring in the British zone in 2023 for the ring seine group
The Director of Fisheries has decided to make the following adjustments for calculating Norwegian vessels' maximum quota in the British zone:

- The partial quota unit for vessels in the ring groove group is increased to 0.7
- The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries monitors fishing closely, and will assess any adjustments in the sub-quota units continuously for all vessel groups.
Please note that the Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries can stop fishing for North Sea herring in the British zone at short notice if the access quota is calculated to have been caught.
The changes taked effect from 26 September 2023.
Change of an area on Isfjorden in the fishing zone at Svalbard for trawling for shrimp

The Director of Fisheries changes with immediate effect an area of Isfjorden in the Fish Protection Zone at Svalbard for fishing for prawns with trawls (J-192-2021).
After this, it is prohibited to fish for shrimp with trawls in an area on Isfjorden in the Fish Protection Zone at Svalbard described with the following positions:
- North 78 degrees 12.6 minutes. East 014 degrees 05.0 minutes.
- North 78 degrees 24.7 minutes. East 015 degrees 05.8 minutes.
- North 78 degrees 26.7 minutes. East 015 degrees 49.1 minutes.
- North 78 degrees 11.0 minutes. East 015 degrees 07.0 minutes.

Increase in the maximum quota in 2023 in fishing for tuna (Thunnus thynnus) for vessels in the seine group
The Director of Fisheries has decided to make the following adjustments to the maximum quota for vessels which fishing with seine for tuna:

- The maximum quota for vessels fishing with nets is increased to 70 tonnes
- The Norwegian Directorate of Fisheries monitors fishing closely, and will assess any further adjustments to the maximum quota on an ongoing basis.
Please note that the Directorate of Fisheries can stop fishing for mackerel sturgeon for vessels that fish with nets at short notice if the quota has been calculated to be caught.
The changes taked effect from 26 September 2023.
