Rueda Valenzuela visited processing plants in Puerto Madryn and traveled to Santa Cruz. He was received by Governor Ignacio Torres and Mayor Gustavo Sastre. He arrived accompanied by the Sea Councilor, Alfonso Villares Bermúdez.

The president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, began an official visit to Argentina this week that included a tour of the fishing plants of Puerto Madryn in Chubut and Puerto Deseado in the province of Santa Cruz.

The Galician president was received this Thursday by Governor Ignacio Torres and Mayor Gustavo Sastre at the facilities of the Estrella Patagónica fishing company (EPSA), where previously the president of the company Buenaventura Lafuente Matos invited him to take a tour of the plant. processing.

Rueda Valenzuela heads a delegation in which he is accompanied by the Minister of the Sea, Alfonso Villares Bermúdez, among other executives of the Xunta de Galicia. In addition to visiting the fishing company EPSA, he was in Conarpesa and Iberconsa and today he will do the same in fishing companies with Galician capital based in Santa Cruz.

Value added

In this sense, the head of the Chubut executive highlighted “the importance of twinning with the community of Galicia”, and the need “to generate a joint work agenda, with the aim of continuing to develop the industry, thus giving value to local production of one of the most important economic sectors for Chubut, such as fishing,” said Torres.

“Consolidated Galician presence”

"I have a magnificent impression," said Rueda Valenzuela, who also pointed out that "they are very important companies and, why not say it, they are also a source of pride for all of us," thus highlighting the importance of knowing that "even so Far from Galicia we have such a well-consolidated Galician presence, and growing despite the logical difficulties of distance.

Furthermore, the regional President highlighted the good impression he received from the businessmen regarding the management of the Governor of Chubut, ensuring that there is evidence of "permanent support from the Provincial State, and a constant search to provide a solution to the problems of the various companies in the area."

Madryn's economic engine

Meanwhile, the mayor of Puerto Madryn, Gustavo Sastre, said that “we visited the company 'Estrella Patagónica', where we shared a great moment with the president of the Xunta de Galicia, Alfonso Rueda Valenzuela, the governor Ignacio Torres and other authorities. We thanked them for their visit and we also ratified our willingness to do everything within our reach to generate new investments in Puerto Madryn.”

In this same sense, the Communal Chief remarked: “With the President of the Xunta de Galicia we were able to address different thematic axes, emphasizing the importance of the fishing industry in our city, taking into account that it is a great generator of labor. and a fundamental economic and productive engine.”

Support for Galician capital

The president of EPSA, Buenaventura Lafuente Matos, valued the visit of the Galician Government delegation and conveyed the concerns that the industry has regarding the economic context that Argentina is going through.

“Very happy with this visit, first for a personal reason, because he is my president, and this represents a very strong institutional reinforcement for the companies that have Galician capital,” he explained.

“The concerns that we brought to your attention are the problems that are known to all. As far as it affects us, everything that is happening with the possible reform of the Federal Fisheries Law, in addition, this year the quota system ends. These issues are going to be transmitted to the national authorities,” he indicated about the efforts that Rueda Valenzuela will make before the Government of Javier Milei.

Lafuente Matos received the delegation together with the General Director of Operations of EPSA, Pablo Rodríguez Fernández, and stressed that “from the Xunta de Galicia we have always felt supported. During the previous visit, the then president Alberto Núñez Feijóo came. The Galician authorities come to support and care about the people and the investments here,” he reflected.

“We have always been concerned that our investments have legal security and predictability because sometimes we notice that we are in a framework of uncertainty, which is why it is important that the Xunta de Galicia transmit this to the local authorities,” he concluded.
