Egypt and Spain Forge Aquaculture Partnership: Suez Canal Company and Tejedor Lázaro Group Ink Cooperation Deal

Prime Minister Madbouly witnesses MOU signing aimed at boosting Egyptian fisheries through Spanish expertise in aquaculture and animal feed production.
 A significant step towards enhancing Egypt's fisheries and aquaculture sector was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Suez Canal Fish Farming Company and Spain's Tejedor Lázaro Group. The signing ceremony, attended by Egypt’s Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly and held on Wednesday, underscores the Egyptian government's commitment to international collaboration. Also present were Osama Rabie, Chairperson of the Suez Canal Authority, and Cristina Fraile, Deputy Head of the Spanish Mission.
The MOU was officially signed by El Sayed Mohamed Shalaby, Chairperson and Managing Director of the Suez Canal Aquaculture Company – a subsidiary of the Suez Canal Authority – and José Luis  Tejedor, Managing Director of the Tejedor Lázaro Group. The Spanish firm brings extensive expertise in fisheries, aquaculture, fish farm management and operations, and animal feed production.
Following the signing, Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized the Egyptian government’s strong commitment to forging partnerships with international organizations to leverage their specialized knowledge across various industries.
“The fisheries sector in Egypt presents considerable investment potential, driven by recent  advancements and the allocation of numerous sites specifically for aquaculture development,” stated Prime Minister Madbouly.
He highlighted the importance of this MOU in building upon President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi’s recent visit to Spain, which sought to strengthen strategic cooperation, encourage foreign investment, and cultivate long-term strategic relations between the two nations.
Prime Minister Madbouly further noted that the MOU specifically focuses on enhancing food security  within the fisheries, aquaculture, and animal feed sectors – areas where Egypt has witnessed notable progress in recent years.
Chairperson of the Suez Canal Authority, Osama Rabie, echoed this sentiment, emphasizing that the MOU aligns with the government’s broader strategy of attracting foreign investment to collaborate with domestic capital in key sustainable development projects.
“Both the Suez Canal Aquaculture Company and the Tejedor Lázaro Group are committed to achieving mutually beneficial objectives through this agreement, facilitating the implementation of impactful aquaculture projects and the further advancement of existing operations,” Rabie affirmed.
