Stewart Graham's new venture takes over non-integrated sites to implement its innovative SeaQureFarm™ system focused on sustainability and reduced environmental impact.
The newly established SeaQureFarming Group is set to revolutionize trout farming in Scotland with its acquisition of non-integrated trout farms from aquaculture giant Mowi Scotland. The move signifies SeaQureFarming's ambition to develop and implement its proprietary semi-closed containment system for fish cultivation.
Scotland-based SeaQureFarming Group Ltd., a company recently founded by Gael Force Group's Stewart Graham, has finalized the purchase of the remaining trout farming operations previously held by Dawnfresh Farming.
These assets, which were not incorporated into Mowi's salmon farming activities following their earlier acquisition of parts of Dawnfresh, were sold in early April, with the details of the transaction now being publicly disclosed.
The acquisition includes several trout farming locations across Scotland, which will initially continue to operate under their existing production methods. Importantly, all jobs associated with these sites will be retained under the new ownership, ensuring stability for the workforce and ongoing operations.
Headquartered in Inverness, SeaQureFarming Group has been specifically created to implement a novel fish farming model centered on the SeaQureFarm™ system, a semi-closed containment technology developed by Gael Force Group.
This innovative technology is engineered to significantly improve waste management and minimize exposure to biological threats, with the potential to convert fish farm byproducts into energy resources.

SeaQureFarm™ is a semi-closed containment, integrated farming concept, which incorporates multiple SeaQureWells™, that has the potential to unlock global ambition for a greener, low carbon, environmentally friendly, and more efficient way of producing healthy nutritious food protein through sustainable farming of the seas.. This acquisition provides SeaQureFarming with a crucial opportunity to deploy and refine its SeaQureFarm™ concept within a real-world aquaculture environment.
According to Stewart Graham, the former Dawnfresh Farming sites offer an ideal practical platform for the further development and rigorous testing of this approach, which has already reached an advanced stage of planning.
Graham also confirmed that the acquired farms will serve a dual purpose: as active production units and as a vital testbed for the company's future-oriented sustainability model.
The deal represents a significant transition for these assets, which had faced an uncertain future after Mowi's partial acquisition of Dawnfresh Farming left them outside their core salmon operations.
Ben Hadfield, Chief Operating Officer of Mowi Scotland and a former director of Dawnfresh Farming, acknowledged the transaction as a noteworthy development for the trout farming sector.
He commented that SeaQureFarming's entry into this area paves the way for a new direction in farm management, with a strong emphasis on technological innovation in aquaculture systems.
While the financial specifics of the sale remain undisclosed, SeaQureFarming has not announced any immediate major infrastructure changes, prioritizing a seamless transfer of ownership and operational control.
Looking ahead, SeaQureFarming intends to strategically align the newly acquired farms with its SeaQureFarm™ development roadmap, signaling a commitment to its innovative and sustainable vision for aquaculture.
