The main products exhibited at the Exhibition include pangasius, shrimp, tuna, tilapia, clams, squid, octopus, dried seafood, value-added products and mixed foods. Value-added products are the main products of Vietnamese companies at this year's exhibition.

Participating in the 2024 World Seafood Expo, VASEP registered an area of 464 m2 and was installed as the national pavilion of Vietnam. The stand was divided into 2 zones including a private stand area with a total area of 328 m2 and a common stand area with an area of 136 m2.

A total of 37 seafood processing and exporting units attended the Vietnam National Pavilion at the 2024 World Seafood Expo, including 09 shrimp processing companies, 08 pangasius processing companies and 04 tuna processing companies, and 15 fishing products processing companies in general.

In addition, this year a company more specialized in machinery and equipment for the fishing industry attended the fair. In addition, there are a series of Exhibitors not included in the National Pavilion cluster and some Units that participate in studies, exploration and market evaluation within the framework of the Fair.

The EU remains Vietnam's main seafood consumer market

In 2023, Vietnamese seafood exports to the EU reached more than $954 million, down 27% from 2022. Most key Vietnamese seafood exports to the EU market will decline sharply due to to the impact of the EU economic recession. and volatile global conditions directly and indirectly affect Vietnam's seafood exports. Only tuna products experienced a reversal, increasing by 6.4%, reaching 176 million dollars. Although seafood exports to the EU in particular and other markets in general will decline sharply in 2023, seafood exports to the EU market still represent a large proportion. It can be seen that the EU has long been one of the traditional major markets for Vietnamese seafood from the beginning to today, so maintaining the presence of Vietnamese seafood at the Global Seafood Expo is always a top priority.

In the first quarter of 2024, Vietnam's seafood exports to the EU reached $210 million, down 4% from the same period, and the EU accounted for 10.8% of total seafood exports. of the sea of Vietnam. Vietnamese shrimp exports to the EU reached $81 million in the first quarter of this year, 9% less than in the same period. Germany, the Netherlands and Belgium are the bloc's three largest import markets for Vietnamese shrimp.

Pangasius exports to the EU in the first quarter of this year reached 39 million dollars, 13% less. The EU market accounts for 9.4% of Vietnam's total pangasius exports. The Netherlands, Germany and Spain are the three largest import markets for pangasius. Spain ranks third in the bloc in imports of Vietnamese pangasius, representing 13% of total pangasius exports to the EU. In the first quarter of 2024, pangasius exports to Spain reached $5 million, an increase of 38%.

Vietnam's tuna and surimi exports to the EU in the first quarter of this year recorded an increase of 29% and 31%, respectively, while squid and octopus exports decreased by 36%.

Within the framework of the Fair, VASEP Association continued to organize promotional and propaganda activities, especially focusing on Vietnam's key products such as shrimp, tuna and pangasius, through the provision of publications and promotional products. products to a large number of visitors, the Association continues to maintain and organize a program of performances of dishes made with seafood at a stand led by a foreign chef.
