PRODUCE: 'Chancay Megaport Will Position the Country as a Leader in the Region'

The head of the sector highlighted that the multi-sector intervention promoted by the State will allow us to have a comprehensive vision of our country, in order to generate indirect jobs.

The Minister of Production, Sergio Gonzalez, reaffirmed that the ambitious Chancay Megaport project, promoted by the Central Government, will position the country as an economic leader in the region, with the objective of exporting the main Peruvian products worldwide.

“The Chancay Megaport is going to have a very important economic and social impact for the country, which will generate 4.5 billion dollars in annual income, this impacts 1.8% of the GDP at the national level,” said Minister Gonzalez.

On the other hand, the head of the sector highlighted that the fishing sector will boost the canning, freezing and fishmeal industry, generating 450 million soles annually (USD 122 M); A similar case will occur with the manufacturing industry, where food, beverages and furniture, mainly, will generate 4,200 million soles annually (USD 1,137 M).

At the installation of the Multisector Commission of the Chancay Multipurpose Port Terminal Project (TPMCH), the Minister of Production highlighted that the multisector intervention will allow us to have a comprehensive vision of our country. “From the Ministry of Production we are promoting productive development, from micro, small, medium and large companies. It is a great opportunity,” he emphasized.

Likewise, he reaffirmed that PRODUCE is developing an artisanal fishing landing, with the objective of serving artisanal fishermen who are the ones who provide hydrobiological resources to the Peruvian tables. “We are going to make a comprehensive package for the benefit of the fishermen so that they know that the State is also with them,” he concluded.
