In order to guarantee the sustainability of the first anchovy fishing season in the north-central area of the country, the Vice Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Jesús Eloy Barrientos Ruíz, visited the facilities of the Satellite Monitoring System (SISESAT) of PRODUCE, where he supervised the monitoring and follow-up actions that have been carried out on the extraction of this resource.

“The anchovy fishery, Peru's main hydrobiological resource, is being permanently monitored, guaranteeing absolute and total control of the fleet for the sustainability of the resource,” said the official.

It should be noted that, from the General Directorate of Supervision, Inspection and Sanction, permanent monitoring of extractive activities has been carried out, using technological tools such as the Satellite Monitoring System (SISESAT), the Electronic Log and the Traceability System of Fishing and Aquaculture (SITRAPESCA).

Likewise, within the framework of the National Monitoring and Control Program for Fishing and Aquaculture Activities - PVCAPAAN, more than 280 inspectors have been deployed at the reception points of the processing plants, where the discharged volumes are verified. for each of the boats.

Likewise, from the Institute of the Sea of Peru (IMARPE), continuous monitoring and follow-up of the main biological, population and fishing indicators of said resource is being carried out, in order to adopt the corresponding preventive conservation measures.

The fishing season will end when the maximum allowable catch quota is reached in the central-northern zone, which is 2 million 475 thousand tons or, failing that, when IMARPE recommends it due to environmental or biological circumstances.
