Tilapia market

Starting with the Cepea – Peixe BR tilapia indicator, we observed an interesting dynamic in the different regions of the country. In the Great Lakes Region, we recorded a slight increase of 0.01 cent (USD 0.0020), with the average price reaching R$9.62 (USD 1.93).

In the North of Paraná, we also observed an increase of 0.02 cents (USD 0.0040), with the average price reaching R$9.98 (USD 2). It is noteworthy that tilapia consumption is on the rise in São Paulo this week. In western Paraná, there was an increase of 0.02 cents (USD 0.0040) in the price, reaching an average weight of R$9.46 (USD 1.90). On the other hand, Minas Gerais, Morada Nova region, witnessed a drop of 0.02 cents (USD 0.0040) per kilo, with the average price reaching R$9.47 (USD 1.90).

In Triângulo Mineiro, Alto Paranaíba, prices remained unstable, recording R$ 9.63 (USD 1.93). This week was marked by intense commercial activity, as expected during Lent.

It is notable that, with the effective start of the year, the market is reacting significantly. An interesting aspect in all squares is the increase in the average weight of tilapia, indicating a healthy supply during the Lent period.

Native fish

With regard to native fish, as discussed in previous weeks, the market is buoyant in all regions, with an improvement in prices and a relatively scarce supply. It will be interesting to see how this dynamic evolves in the coming months and how it will impact the market as a whole.

In addition to market movements, this week we also witnessed important government events. In Brasília, the first meeting and action of the superintendents of the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture took place, focused on the aquaculture area. This three-day training aimed to level knowledge and improve service to aquaculturists, a commendable initiative that seeks to promote the sustainable development of the sector.

Launch of the 2024 fish farming yearbook

Next week, we eagerly await the launch of the 2024 Fish Farming Yearbook, with all relevant information about the sector, segmented by state. This event, which will be streamed on YouTube, will offer valuable insights into the trends and happenings of the past year. Be sure to follow Peixe BR on social media, where you will find the link to watch. This is fresh information that will help us better understand the fish farming scenario in 2023 and shape our expectations for the future of the aquaculture sector in 2024.
