The application, developed by Opromar and the Spanish Nutrition Foundation, was the protagonist this morning at the Santiago University Hospital Complex of a talk for nutritionists and primary care doctors.

The tool that promises to “make life easier for its users” is now available for free and its use is simple, adapted to all types of audiences.

The app allows access to information on various species and healthy preparations. With a practical approach, it seeks to reverse the worrying decline in fish consumption.

Santiago de Compostela - Opromar (Organization of Fishing Producers of the Port and Ría de Marín) continues to consolidate its commitment to promoting healthy eating, now through the free app 'At least Three'. This innovative tool, presented today to nutritionists and primary care physicians of the Santiago-Barbanza Health Area at the Santiago University Hospital Complex (CHUS), was designed in 2023 to facilitate and promote the consumption of fresh fish in a simple and accessible way for all audiences.

The app, which is now available for free download, stands out for its ease of use and is aimed at users of any age or level of culinary knowledge. With just a few clicks, it allows you to consult fish species and access healthy and quick-to-prepare recipes, optimizing both nutritional value and time in the kitchen. It is designed so that anyone, even with little time or limited culinary skills, can include fish in their daily diet without complications.

Unanimous support from health professionals

The presentation, aimed at health professionals, received praise from the doctors and nutritionists present, who underlined the usefulness of this digital tool for nutritional education of patients. The app, which promotes the consumption of fish at least three times a week, was valued as an excellent initiative to combat health problems such as childhood obesity, and to promote the Atlantic Diet, which is recognized for its cardiovascular benefits.

Francisco Fernández, Head of Projects at Opromar, highlighted the importance of this tool to reverse the worrying decrease in fish consumption since, he said, “it offers practical solutions to a problem that is there and that we cannot avoid.”

Francisco Fernández, Felipe Calle and Rosaura Leis

In turn, Rosaura Leis, president of the Spanish Nutrition Foundation, stressed the urgency of initiatives such as this to protect the health of future generations. Like Leis, Felipe Calle, director of Primary Care, insisted on the need for healthy eating to avoid diseases.

Opromar has already announced its plans to extend this official presentation to all health areas in Galicia, with the support of Sergas.

This will allow more health professionals to recommend the 'Al menos Tres' app to their patients, thus helping to promote healthy eating habits among the population and to support Galician fishing communities.

“Al menos tres” offers information and a wide variety of recipes for species such as hake, swordfish, horse mackerel, cod, monkfish, mackerel, roosterfish, anchovy, whiting, squid and quella, among others. This catalogue will continue to receive monthly updates to make it a “must-have” for the kitchen.
