In a significant step toward enhancing the local production chain, Primato Cooperativa Agroindustrial has formalized a partnership with the Becker family of Quatro Pontes (PR).

With nearly 50 years of experience in pig farming, the Becker family—owners of the award-winning Granja Becker—will now supply tilapia for Primato's premium brand. This marks a new chapter in their illustrious farming legacy.

Granja Becker has been a national champion for nine years, earning the top spot seven times and the runner-up position twice among farms with more than 3,000 sows. The farm currently boasts 5,300 sows, achieving an impressive productivity rate of 36.7 piglets per sow annually.

A Partnership Built on Trust and Excellence

The agreement was celebrated during a dinner attended by key stakeholders. Anderson Léo Sabadin, president of Primato, shared the details of the collaboration:
"We have partnered with the fish farming operations of Mr. Milton Becker, his wife, Dona Inez, and their family, including their son Michel, daughter-in-law Bruna, and son-in-law Rômulo, Cristiane’s husband. The cooperative will provide feed, and we will purchase the tilapia for our slaughterhouse," Sabadin explained, emphasizing Primato’s dedication to sustainable production and supporting local farming initiatives.

From Champions in Pig Farming to Pioneers in Fish Farming

Milton Becker, reflecting on his longstanding relationship with Primato, expressed pride in this new venture:
"I’ve always admired Primato. Years ago, we collaborated through a feed factory, and that partnership elevated Primato’s performance within Frimesa, taking it from last place to first in performance."

Now, the family is bringing the same dedication to fish farming. Today, we manage a fattening and fry project, led by my wife, my daughter-in-law Claudia, and my son Marcelo. I’m also working on a juvenile fish project. While the current agreement focuses on the fattening area, we plan to expand into fry and juvenile production in the future,” Milton added.

Security and Growth for the Becker Family

The partnership provides much-needed stability for the Becker family’s expanding fish farming operations.
"We felt insecure navigating the free market with the volume of fish we produce. This partnership with Primato gives us the confidence and security we were seeking," Milton shared. He also highlighted the cooperative’s familial approach: “Primato feels like a family—not just the members present at the meeting, but also the employees. This spirit of cooperation is invaluable.”

A Promising Future Together

The collaboration paves the way for an even brighter future. Sabadin revealed plans for a new feed factory dedicated to fish farming and Primato’s own cold storage facility, which will replace outsourced operations. “These developments signal a prosperous future for our partnership,” Sabadin stated.

Milton echoed this optimism:
"This partnership will grow. The signing of the contract and the warm family gathering confirmed that this cooperation will be long-term. Together, we will achieve great things in fish farming."

Sabadin concluded by praising the Becker family:
"Milton is not only a great producer but also a model of excellence. His productivity in pig farming is unmatched, and now, with great pride, we welcome him to fish farming. This is a partnership we’re truly excited about."
