A Robust and Predictable Value Chain
The three-year agreement entails Bue Salmon receiving smolt from Sævareid Fiskeanlegg, where Bolaks is the majority shareholder. The smolt will be upgraded to post-smolt at Bue Salmon’s land-based facility in Bulandet before being delivered to Bolaks’ sea sites.
This establishes a predictable and efficient value chain that strengthens the operations of both companies. Short production cycles and reliable deliveries enable optimal utilization of production capacities.
“This partnership is a fantastic opportunity for Bue Salmon,” says Knut Eikeland, CEO of Bue Salmon.
“Not only do we secure predictability and profitability, but we also establish close cooperation with one of the country’s leading aquaculture environments. We share a strong focus on fish welfare and look forward to learning from each other.”
Knowledge-Driven Development
This collaboration is more than a supply agreement – it’s a joint initiative for innovation and sustainability. Together, Bue Salmon and Bolaks will explore how land-based post-smolt production can be optimized to support the sea phase while also developing solutions to meet future demands for sustainable salmon farming.
“By combining our expertise in smolt production and sea-based farming with Bue Salmon’s specialization in post-smolt and land-based production, we have a unique opportunity to explore the synergies between land and sea,” says Karina Antonsen Hjelle, CEO of Bolaks.
Supporting Development Goals
For Bue Salmon, the partnership boosts revenue and strengthens the foundation for further growth. Operational predictability frees up both financial resources and time to advance development plans at Lutelandet.
For Bolaks, the partnership ensures a stable supply of robust post-smolt, enabling reduced production time at sea. This aligns with Bolaks’ strategy of producing sustainable, high-quality food in Bjørnafjorden.
