Contrary to initial expectations, the first vessels operating south of the 49° parallel in search of squid have reported a successful start.
According to reliable sources, daily catches in these early days have ranged between 50 and 70 tons, creating an optimistic outlook for both the fishing sector and local communities. This initial performance strengthens expectations for a favorable season, despite earlier concerns about market conditions and the state of squid populations.

Optimism grew further yesterday when a small group of jiggers moved northward to a zone near Puerto Deseado. A notable concentration of squid was detected in this area, raising the expectations of fishermen and experts. Sources consulted by the Argentine news outlet Mar&Pesca expressed satisfaction with the results achieved so far.
