Korean imports of Russian raw material at record levels

Continued growth of Russian seafood imports
From January to July 2022, fishery products imported from Russia amounted to 346,295 tons, an increase of 86% compared to the same period in 2021.
In addition, the proportion of fishery products from Russia was calculated to account for 48% of the 724,699 tons.
In order of import volume, 218,429 tons of frozen pollock were imported, an increase of 148% from 88,227 tons in the same period of the previous year.
Frozen pacific herring, the second largest import, came in at 22,724 tons, an increase of 128% compared to 9,961 tons in the same period last year.
Next, frozen pacific cod was imported at 18,174 tons, up 2% from 17,892 tons in 2021.
Frozen pink salmon, the fourth largest import, came in at 16,579 tons, an increase of 1,765% from 889 tons in the same period last year.
The fish species whose import volume decreased was frozen yellowfin sole, 7,788 tons were imported, which is a 15% decrease compared to 9,145 tons in 2021.
By July 2022, the amount of imports of fishery products from Russia was USD 881.45 million, an increase of 66% from USD 530.09 million until July 2021, and the average unit price of imports was USD 2.55/kg, which is 12% lower than USD 2.85/kg in 2021.
Among Russia seafood, live snow crab has the highest import price, and was formed at USD 26.33 per kg, and frozen sardines were the lowest at USD 0.51/kg
