As part of the first stage of Russia’s investment quota program, the Viktor Gavrilov, a state-of-the-art freezer trawler, has been launched.

Commissioned by the Lenin Fishing Collective Farm, one of the country's oldest fisheries enterprises, the vessel will operate in the northwestern Pacific Ocean especially for pollock, pacific cod, sardine 'iwashi' and Pacific herring. Measuring over 120 meters in length, it will accommodate a crew of 148.
“This is the largest fishing trawler currently under construction at Russian shipyards. Its advanced design will ensure safe navigation, operational efficiency, and environmental sustainability while providing modern amenities for the crew,” said Ilya Shestakov, head of the Federal Agency for Fisheries.
Construction Milestones and Delivery
Key structural components, including bow and stern thrusters and the shaft line, have been installed. Large equipment has been loaded, structural integrity tests completed, and fittings mounted. The vessel is set for delivery in February 2026.
Operational Capabilities
The trawler is equipped to catch pelagic fish species and serve as a floating processing base. Onboard facilities will include fish processing lines, a surimi production unit, and freezer storage for finished products. The plant will produce canned goods, fish oil, fishmeal, and packaged seafood.

Honoring a Legendary Captain
Named after Viktor Rodionovich Gavrilov, a distinguished long-distance fishing captain and honored figure in Russia’s fisheries sector, the vessel pays tribute to his remarkable career. Captain Gavrilov, who arrived in Kamchatka in 1969, began as a navigator and later commanded several large freezer trawlers, earning numerous accolades, including the 300 Years of the Russian Fleet medal and the Honored Worker of the Fisheries Industry badge.
