Russian fishermen go with an excess of last year's catch by 15%: almost 280 thousand tons were caught

According to the industry monitoring system, by January 24, 2023, Russian fishermen caught 279.3 thousand tons of fish, which is 15% more than in 2022.
In the Far Eastern fishery basin, the catch amounted to 231.6 thousand tons, which is 17% higher than last year.
The pollock fishery produced 34.3 thousand tons more - 171 thousand tons. The cod catch of 8.1 thousand tons practically corresponds to the level of 2022. Herring production increased by 1.6 thousand tons - up to 38.3 thousand tons.
In the Northern Fisheries Basin, the catch amounted to 23 thousand tons, which is 1.3 thousand tons or 6% higher than last year. Cod production increased by 1.3 thousand tons - up to 13.7 thousand tons, haddock - by 0.6 thousand tons, up to 8 thousand tons.
In the Western Fisheries Basin, almost twice as much as in 2022 was caught - 7.3 thousand tons. In the sprat fishery, the catch increased by 3.3 thousand tons - up to 5.3 thousand tons, Baltic herring - by 0.4 thousand tons, up to 1.9 thousand tons.
In the Azov-Black Sea fishery basin, fishermen increased production by 20.4% - up to 2.6 thousand tons. In the anchovy fishery, the catch increased by 0.4 thousand tons - up to 2.5 thousand tons.
In the Volga-Caspian fishery basin, fishermen mastered 16.2% more than the same indicator of production in 2022 - 2.6 thousand tons, mainly kilka.
In the exclusive economic zones of foreign states, conventional areas and the open part of the World Ocean, the volume of production by the Russian fleet amounted to 12.3 thousand tons.
