Good herring fishing in the north but little from the mackerel field
NVG herring:
27,000 tonnes of NVG herring were reported last week. Purse seines accounted for around 12,500 tonnes of the total quantity, the coastal fleet with direct catches for 11,000 tonnes and the lockers around 3,500 tonnes.

Around 2,700 herring have been caught in the sea, while the rest are close to the coast. A number of larger catches have been taken in Fugløysundet on route 403 between Arnøya and Vannøy, where the average weight has been 300 grams for some of the catches. There are now around 73,000 left of the quota, including the flex quota. It is the coastal group that has the most left on this year's quota
Mackerel:
There is almost no mackerel fished in the past week, around 87 tonnes in total, of which 30 tonnes are direct catches and the rest are by-catches of the industrial fleet. A couple of vessels have been out in the sea, but there has also been some bad weather
North Sea herring:
1,070 tonnes of North Sea herring were reported, a lot of exploration is reported to find herring
Sea sprat:
Two foreign vessels have delivered 660 tonnes of sea sprat caught off the Dutch coast.
Horse mackerel:
Around 80 tonnes of horse mackerel have been caught, some from Western Norway and a couple of locked catches from Ryfylke
The industrial fleet:
800 tonnes of blue whiting, as well as small quantities of herring and norwegian pout have been reported this week.
