Marine Harvest Chile made agreements with several organizations of artisanal fishermen in the area, with the aim of projecting joint work for the capture work, after the accident on July 5 that led to the escape of salmon from its Punta Redonda farming centre.

It was conducted publicly, with knowledge of the authority and was widely released by local and national media.

Artisanal fishermen have technical experience, knowledge of the area and have the necessary equipment to perform this task.

Since it was an emergency and all parties intended to collaborate in the success of the recapture, the authority was informed and publicly that a reward would be set for each species captured.

The company highlighted that "it is publicly known that, parallel to this direct effort, there was a massive capture of salmon by artisanal fishermen and even by people from the community who do not engage in fishing, capturing by various means, including shore fishing."

The massive nature of this spontaneous or informal fishing effort was of such magnitude that, according to the information collected, it largely surpassed the direct fishing carried out by the company with the artisanal fishermen in their joint work.

To try to quantify the amount of fish recaptured in an unofficial way, the company hired an independent consultancy to know the form and quantities of the recapture that the artisanal fishery did autonomously. This has been achieved with photographic, audiovisual and documentary records, which will be an important precedent for the final evaluation to be carried out by the authorities.

Marine Harvest has signed several agreements to support, with an individual contribution, those artisanal fishermen who played a prominent role in the recapture process, as a way to recognize the joint work between the company and the organizations of artisanal fishermen in the area.

"Marine Harvest has agreed to sign these agreements as a recognition of the collaboration given and in the spirit of offering a signal of good coexistence between a relevant company in the area and some of the organizations that represent artisanal fishing", said the producer of salmonids

This report was delivered to the authorities with the most complete truth, good faith and transparency. In addition, in the final accounting of the recapture process, the numbers of direct capture specimens and those that prove the indirect capture that has been reliably documented will be announced. The authority will ultimately evaluate this background and apply, within the framework of the current law, the corresponding criteria and decisions.
