Jakarta (VNA) – Indonesia’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) is ready to maintain the scope of acceptance of marine and fishery products from the country to 171 countries worldwide, a senior official has said.
In a statement released on January 6, Acting Head of the Fish Quarantine, Quality Control and Safety of Fishery Products Agency (BKIPM) at the KKP Hari Maryadi said that last year Indonesia’s marine and fishery products penetrated 171 of 195 countries in the world with the acceptance ratio of 98 percent.
To ensure that marine and fishery products are truly accepted in export destination countries, the BKIPM continues to bolster various forms of synergy and collaboration with various institutions, including a cooperation agreement with PT Angkasa Pura II to increase direct calls for fishery products from various airports in Indonesia to destination countries, he said.
Maryadi noted that direct calls are able to overcome problems faced by businesses, such as operating costs while exporting, especially the possibility that product's quality is affected due to long transportation.
Java, Sumatra and Kalimantan are the Indonesian part of Borneo
Indonesia's fishery production potential had reached 916.200 tonnes on the island of Sumatra, 247,000 tonnes in Kalimantan, and 232.400 tonnes on the island of Java, he said.(total of 1,395,600 tonnes).
