Humberto Becerra Batista, national president of Canainpesca, explained that they are already working on two lines to achieve certification in another year

In the National Chamber of the Fishing and Aquaculture Industry, there is confidence that the export of Mexican shrimp to the United States will not stop, despite the warning for the misuse of sea turtle excluders.

Humberto Becerra Batista, national president of the organization, explained that they are already working on two lines for another year to achieve certification.

He specified that the first line is the diplomatic one, where the US authorities are made aware of the commitment that Mexico has in the defense of the sea turtle.

And a second line is the training of fishermen for the correct use of sea turtle excluders, the creation of a responsive letter to those in charge of the vessels and the frequent inspection of the excluders.

“I have full confidence, we are working on both lines, we are making an approach appealing to the commitment that has always been had in the protection of the turtle, that is one line, the other is the technical part, we have already started that, We have already started it, we are working on it ”, said Becerra Batista

“We are confident that this first contact will consider not publishing desertification. I consider that it is not something that worries me too much and with this I do not want to minimize what the United States Government is saying ”.
