The president of Conarpesa offers personal financial relief in the face of SOMU's inaction on the eve of Holy Week.

Public statement

As president of Conarpesa, and seeing that this conflict will drag on with our employees being held hostage by the S.O.M.U. (United Maritime Workers' Union), without granting them freedom of action, much less financial assistance, on the eve of Holy Week, and so that they can enjoy it with their families in a slightly more bearable way, I have made the following decision:

Grant them an advance payment of up to 2,000,000 pesos to be repaid when they are released from work.

The amount will depend on their history with the company, seniority, good performance, and other factors.

It will be at their request, and to give you an idea, if a man has, for example, more than 6 or 7 years of seniority and good performance, he will be entitled to the 2 million pesos, even with fewer years of seniority. A total of about 700 million pesos will be allocated for this purpose.

On the other hand, regardless of what he has, if he is unionized or officially dismissed in the last year (from January 2024) or has poor performance, he will receive zero advance payment. For example, those famously dismissed officially, because at the last minute at the request of the SOMU (fishermen's festival...) causing significant economic damage, it will be zero.

I don't take care of anyone's job; I give it to them!!!!!

I have to reward loyalty and not reward (which doesn't mean punishing, because I get nothing from them) those who don't defend their job at the request of the SOMU or at the request of poor performance!

I hope the SOMU compensates for the "loyalty of their colleagues."

POSTSCRIPT: Oh, that money is from the races I won't be able to attend during my recovery, and I think it's a good way to lend it for that purpose. I'm never going to leave my people alone, you always!

ALWAYS RESPECT, NEVER FEAR!!

Fernando Álvarez
