As of March 9, 2025, Far Eastern fishing fleets have landed 660,500 tons of pollock, according to the Federal Agency for Fisheries (Rosrybolovstvo) industry monitoring system. Notably, over 497,000 tons were harvested in the Sea of Okhotsk.

Other significant catches include approximately 137,000 tons of Pacific herring (+12.6% compared to 2024), with 129,000 tons from the North Okhotsk subzone, and 29,000 tons of cod.

Last week, the Okhotsk Sea expedition involved 80 large-tonnage and 9 medium-tonnage fishing vessels.

In Primorsky Krai, 23 vessels are en route to port carrying 41,500 tons of fish products, including 32,200 tons of pollock and 5,200 tons of herring.

The Far Eastern Emergency Rescue Squad of Rosrybolovstvo is ensuring fleet safety with the vessels Spravedlivy in the Sea of Okhotsk, Suvorovets in the Bering Sea, and Predanny in the Sea of Japan.

Rosrybolovstvo's territorial departments have disseminated ice situation updates to vessel captains to mitigate icing risks. Ongoing efforts are in place to prevent emergencies and safeguard crew lives and health.

The fishing outlook for the upcoming week has been shared with the Okhotsk Sea Fishing Route Headquarters representative for Season "A," who is stationed in the fishing area, for dissemination to vessel captains.

The Okhotsk Sea fishing season "A," spanning January to April, represents the peak period for pollock harvesting, accounting for up to 80% of the annual volume. This period is also characterized by challenging weather and ice conditions.

All organizational and operational matters related to the Okhotsk Sea fishing season are promptly addressed at Rosrybolovstvo headquarters, in collaboration with regional executive authorities, the Russian Federal Security Service, Rosrybolovstvo's territorial offices, and industry representatives.
