Until August, frozen pollock imports decreased by 62%

In August 2023, frozen pollock imports amounted to 7,017 tons, a 68% decrease from the previous year's 22,190 tons.

Total import volume was 91,901 tons, a decrease of 62% from 243,394 tons in the same period last year, accounting for 14.2% of the total seafood imports of 647,869 tons.

As of August, 88,339 tons, or 96%, of frozen pollock were imported from Russia, 3,445 tons from the U.S., and 117 tons from Canada, and there were also imports from China the previous year.

The import price by country was highest at USD 1.45/kg for the United States origin, USD 1.06/kg for the Russian, and USD 1.21/kg for the Canadian, and the average import price was USD 1.07/kg, a 2.6% decrease from the previous year's USD 1.10/kg.

The import amount of frozen pollock in August was USD 6.96 million, a 70% decrease from USD 23.35 million in the same period last year, and the cumulative import amount was USD 9,853, a 63% decline from USD 267.89 million the previous year.
