The Argentine portal Deproa denounced in a note published yesterday that after the scandalous version that fishing reports had been 'drawn' to hide the capture of several tons of juvenile Patagonian toothfish, it has now been learned that the vessel is facing serious complaints due to habitability problems and some inconveniences with the crew's diet.

Apparently the Tai-An factory ship, belonging to the Chinese capital company Prodesur S.A. and which has Ushuaia as its home port, navigates a sea of problems: on suspicion of the alleged change of species, it was learned that several complaints are also accumulating for the food that is prepared on board and for poor living conditions. Some of these complaints were made by the crew members themselves and others by fishing inspectors, in this specific case due to the refusal of the shipowner to grant them the same conditions as the officers.
The National Director of Fisheries Coordination and Inspection, Julián Suarez, confirmed that there are complaints about the conditions in which the vessel is located, and explained that they were made by fishing inspectors.

He also confirmed that there is an ongoing investigation into the fishing of juvenile Patagonian toothfish. In this context, he explained that when the ship was unloaded, the commission of toothfish was present exceptionally because the ship does not have a quota for this species. "Minutes were drawn up and the percentage of juvenile toothfish brought on board is being analyzed, although there is nothing conclusive at the moment," he said when asked by that portal.
The TAI AN ship is the only ship in South America dedicated to the production of Surimi on board. To do this, it captures and processes on board the Polish and Hoki species in a state-of-the-art factory. The Tai-An is 102.5 m. length 15.7 beam, 6.4 draft and 6.9 depth.
