Russian fish farmers successfully completed the first quarter of 2023

According to the results of the first quarter of 2023, the volume of commercial aquaculture production in Russia increased by 15.6% compared to the same period in 2022 and exceeded 181.4 thousand tons.
The Northwestern Federal District retained its positions in the top three in terms of cultivation volume - 65.7 thousand tons (+ 26.6% compared to the same indicator in 2022), the Far East - 62.5 thousand tons (+ 13.5%) and the Southern federal district — more than 35.5 thousand tons (+2.6%).

The main contribution to the production volume of the NWFD was traditionally made by fish farmers of the Murmansk region - about 51 thousand tons (+ 22.4% compared to last year), the Republic of Karelia - 7.74 thousand tons (2.1 times higher than in 2022), Leningrad region - more than 6.2 thousand tons.
In the Far Eastern Federal District, almost all production is concentrated on the territory of Primorsky Krai, more than 61.34 thousand tons of seafood are grown here, which is 13.2% more than in the same period in 2022.

In the North Caucasus Federal District, the volume of commercial aquaculture production amounted to almost 9.7 thousand tons, which is 39% higher than in 2022. The main contribution was made by fish farmers of the Republic of Dagestan - about 5.4 thousand tons, Stavropol Territory - 2.8 thousand tons and the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania - about 1 thousand tons.
3.34 thousand tons were produced in the Central Federal District, almost 2.2 thousand tons in the Volga Federal District (8.2% more), in the Urals - more than 1.9 thousand tons (7% more), in the Siberian federal district - 651 tons.
Traditionally, the main segments of the commercial aquaculture production structure are represented by salmon, carp and herbivorous fish species, valuable seafood (oysters, mussels, scallops and other mollusks, echinoderms), sturgeon, and whitefish.
Commercial aquaculture is the industry development driver.
Domestic fish farmers every year make an increasing contribution to the all-Russian production of fish products, providing the domestic market with fresh, live and chilled fish and seafood.
