The size is about 6500 tons of displacement, the total length is about 150m, the width is about 17m, and it was built as the second Reimei-class patrol ship

The Japan Coast Guard announced on February 16, 2021 (Tuesday) that the helicopter-mounted "Akatsuki" patrol boat was delivered to the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard and Machinery in Nagasaki prefecture. She is assigned to the Kagoshima Coast Guard Department of the 10th Regional Coast Guard Headquarters.

The "Akatsuki" patrol boat is the second Reimei-class patrol boat built to a budget for 2017. It is equipped with a 40mm single-arm machine gun, two 20mm multi-body machine guns and a "Super Puma". She is equipped with a Type 225 helicopter (nickname: Aowashi).

Normally only one helicopter is installed, but in an emergency, two helicopters can be installed and two hangars and transfer rails are also available for the departure and arrival decks. In addition, it is equipped with a display device, such as a stop command, a remote monitoring and verification device, and a remote high-pressure water discharge cannon.
