The Japan Coast Guard announced on February 16, 2021 (Tuesday) that the helicopter-mounted "Akatsuki" patrol boat was delivered to the Mitsubishi Heavy Industries Nagasaki Shipyard and Machinery in Nagasaki prefecture. The "Akatsuki" patrol boat is the second Reimei-class patrol boat built to a budget for 2017. It is equipped with a 40mm single-arm machine gun, two 20mm multi-body machine guns and a "Super Puma". She is equipped with a Type 225 helicopter (nickname: Aowashi).
Normally only one helicopter is installed, but in an emergency, two helicopters can be installed and two hangars and transfer rails are also available for the departure and arrival decks.
