Supplies of king and premium types of crab from the Russian Federation to China have increased by almost 70% in recent years, taking into account all export restrictions, reported the Russian Crab company of the Federal State Budgetary Institution Agroexport. This is due to the fact that crab producers in the Northern Basin, who previously supplied products to the United States and Europe, also reoriented themselves to the Chinese market, the commentary says. This has led to increased competition in this direction.
“Despite the serious increase in competition, Russian Crab Group of Companies maintains leadership in the Chinese direction. We grew at the same time as the market. At the end of 2023, the company’s supply volume increased by 71%, and the share in all-Russian supplies of live crab to China amounted to 28%. High quality products and active marketing allow us to maintain our position in this market. Now our crab is presented in the wholesale segment, in HoReCa and on marketplaces,” comments Yulia Yurova, General Director of the Russian Crab Group of Companies.
The company explained that among domestic crab producers, Russian Crab Group of Companies was one of the first to concentrate its efforts on promotion in China. The company uses all available methods for promotion - branding, thematic roadshows, trade marketing, SMM.
Also, for promotion purposes, “Russian Crab” registered trademarks in China; organized training for partner employees; acts as co-organizer of major events, such as the Russian Crab Festival in Shanghai in 2023.
