The Korean port of Pyeongtaek is ready to accept Russian transports for the unloading of frozen fish products in reefer containers from December 13, 2021
This was agreed by the Federal Fisheries Agency and the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries of the Republic of Korea in the framework of the Agreement between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Korea on cooperation in the field of prevention Illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing of living marine resources dated December 22, 2009.
The Port of Pyeongtaek, located 85 kilometers southwest of Seoul, is rising fast as one of the major ports in Korea
The high demand for container shipping and restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic have had a significant impact on the transportation routes of fishery products of Russian origin. To ensure the stability of supplies, it is advisable to take advantage of the transport potential of other marine terminals on the Korean peninsula. In this regard, the Federal Fisheries Agency has resolved the issue of the development of logistics for export deliveries of Russian fishery products through the port of Pyeongtaek.
An additional port to service Russian vessels will help ease increased cargo at the port of Busan, the main transit port for Russian fish exports.
