Catfish (Basa/Pangasius)
Price
The average CIF price of catfish / pangasius fillets (basa, swai or tra) imported in May was USD 3,973 per tonne, 2% higher than in April and 9% lower than in May 2018. In the first five months, the average was USD 4,803/t, up 20% on that of the same period last year.

Market
In May, incoming volumes of frozen catfish fillets of basa and panga reported 2,656 tonnes, worth USD 10,553,000, up 2% in volume and 9% less in value on those imported in the previous month, and down 58% in volume and 61% in value on those imported in May 2018.

In the period totalled 25,612 tonnes for USD 123,021,000, 17% lower volume and 1% lower value than in the previous year. Vietnam was the supplier of 25,032 tonnes while China was the source of 579 tonnes.
