The average CIF price of fresh bluefin imported by Japan in January was JPY 1,504/kg, down 30% on that of December 2018 and 21% in value on that of January 2018.

Markets
During the month analysed, about 121 tonnes of fresh bluefin were imported, worth JPY 182 million at Japan Customs.
These figures are down 80% in volume and 86% in value on those registered in the previous month. Compared with January 2018, imports they are down 64% in volume and 71% in value.

The main supplier of northern bluefin (Thunnus thynnus and/or Thunnus orientalis) during the period was Republic of Korea , with 50 tonnes and JPY 114 million.
