The average CIF price of fresh bluefin imported by Japan in December was JPY 2,144/kg, down 8% on that of November and up 2% in value on that of December 2017. In the year, the average was JPY 1,883/kg, up 2% on that of the same period last year.

Markets
During the month analized, about 597 tonnes of fresh bluefin were imported, worth JPY 1,280 million at Japan Customs.
These figures are up 38% in volume and 27% in value on those registered in the previous month. Compared with December 2017, imports increased 2% in volume and 4% in value.

During the period, imports reached 6,941 tonnes worth JPY 13,068 million, up 18% in volume and 21% in value on those of the same period in 2017.

The main supplier of northern bluefin (Thunnus thynnus and/or Thunnus orientalis) was Mexico during the period, with 3,934 tonnes and JPY 8,021 million.
