Prices
The average CIF price of fresh bluefin imported by Japan in November was JPY 2,336/kg, down 1% on that of October and up 7% in value on that of November 2017. In the first eleven months of the year, the average was JPY 1,859/kg, up 3% on that of the same period last year.

Markets
During the month analysed, about 432 tonnes of fresh bluefin were imported, worth JPY 1,009 million at Japan Customs.
These figures are down 24% in volume and 25% in value on those registered in the previous month. Compared with November 2017, imports increased 1% in volume and 8% in value.

During the first eleven months of the year, imports reached 6,344 tonnes worth JPY 11,792 million, up 20% in volume and 23% in value on those of the same months last year.

The main supplier of northern bluefin (Thunnus thynnus and/or Thunnus orientalis) was Mexico during the period, with 3,391 tonnes and JPY 6,914 million.
