Jesper Raakjær, professor and head of IFM, PhD (1992) and DSc (2009) from Aalborg University, has extensive experience in the conservation and management of marine living resources and a long and diverse publication record. He is an experienced senior level manager and strategic planner, with diverse diplomatic and overseas experience, and is a practised speaker and contributor to high-level international meetings. He has been involved in numerous international research projects undertaking institutional analysis of fisheries and marine governance, in particular the application of ecosystem based fisheries and marine management, user/stakeholder participation, legitimacy and compliance both in a developed and developing country context. His present major task is to head the governance components of the two FP7 projects MEFEPO and ODEMM. Besides his academic carrier he has extensive practical experience first working as a professional fisher, later by serving on Board of Directors for Danish pelagic fish processing companies. He is presently an ExCom member of the EU Pelagic Regional Advisory Committee, representing the EU Fish Processors Association (AIPCE). |
