Peter is well versed in the changing dynamics of the fish and food industry having been part grown up in the retail and fast food industry.
Peter graduated as a Food Technologist at South Bank University, London and has over 28 years experience in the food industry with roles in Quality Assurance, Technical, Commercial, Trading & Retail operations and Sustainability.
After a spell at McDonald’s UK, Peter joined the UK's Seafish Industry Authority in 1985, where he was a key player in raising standards across all sectors of the UK seafood supply chain where he held the post of Quality Assurance Controller for England, Wales & N Ireland.
In 1999, Peter joined Sainsbury's Supermarkets Ltd, UK as Business Development Manager for Fish. He was then promoted and held a variety of senior Commercial and Retail posts at Sainsbury’s, where he was the architect behind a modernisation programme for all fresh foods categories and staff training across 580 stores.
Peter joined Tesco Stores in 2006, where he held the role of Company Policy Manager for Seafood where he was responsible for fish and seafood policy. Under his leadership, Tesco became the first supermarket in the world to draw up a policy that encompassed all marine related categories.
Peter joined the Iglo Foods Group (Birds Eye, Iglo & Findus Italy brands) in the summer of 2008 and currently leads the group technical, quality and sustainability operations and development programme across 16 markets.
He was the architect behind the launch of Forever Food, the world’s first totally integrated sustainability programme for a frozen food company with over 125 targets over the 2010-2015 period covering fish and seafood, vegetables and poultry operations.
Peter is recognised as a champion of Sustainable Fisheries Development across the world, has sat on numerous expert panels and has advised policy and governmental agencies worldwide. Currently he sits on the Aquaculture Stewardship Council Supervisory Board. |
