Iceland Ocean Cluster is a project which facilitates networking opportunities for ocean related industries in Iceland and worldwide. Our partners consist of leaders in well established as well as cutting edge firms in ocean related industries.
Iceland Ocean Cluster role is to map the ocean related industries in Iceland, connect people and firms in ocean related fields and by that seek new opportunities across a variety of fields and regions.
Iceland is one of the largest seafood trading nation in Europe. Icelandic ocean resources have been managed sustainably and Iceland’s fisheries sector has been first in its class worldwide. Over 70 Icelandic companies, among them some of the largest food processing tech and fishing gear firms in the world, are providing technology and knowhow to ocean related industries worldwide. Iceland has one of the largest seabed in Europe which offers various opportunities in R&D, green technology, sustainability, renewable energy etc.

Sjóvás results in the insurance business, which was my responsibility, improved radically in the period or from combined ratio of 123 in 2005 to a combined ratio of 97 for the first six months of 2009. A yearly improvement of approximately ISK 1.6 billion (USD 12 million).
Sjóvá reached the top 20 list of employee satisfaction in Iceland in 2007, the first time.
