Stuart Altman is an Owner and serves as the Executive Vice President at Stavis Seafoods. He is in charge of increasing the company's overall profitably, as well as managing fresh buying, overseeing Miami operations and sales and supervising the cash desk at the Boston processing facility. Stuart also serves as the internal and external face of customer service, as he is often the go-to-guy for employees and customers with questions or concerns. He is also essential in the training of employees on the company's Customer Service Promise and its "Stavis Way" initiative, the two founding principles on which the corporate culture is based.
Stuart started his career at Merrill Lynch as a cashier in 1981. He went through the Merrill Lynch training program and rose to sales associate and then account executive before leaving for Stavis in 1987. He started at Stavis at the bottom, serving as a fish packer and learning the business from the ground up by training in multiple departments. Stuart was promoted to Operation Manager and focused on inventory control and working with sales to ensure efficient customer order fulfillment. He later served as part of the Sales Management Team from 2010 to 2013, focused on driving new business opportunities. During his tenure at Stavis, Stuart created an office for buying, cutting and quality control out of Miami and developed the cash desk sales program out of Boston. He also helped bring in a number of new species of fresh seafood and increase fresh sourcing in his management role in fresh buying.
Stuart earned a BS in Business Administration from the State University of New York at Albany. He is active in the community, including participating in community theatre and at numerous charity organizations. He volunteers with the Boston Food Bank and Long Island Food Center and serves on the boards of the Temple Alyah Men's Club, Needham Little League Baseball and the Blue Water Fishermen's Association. He is also the former president of the New England Seafood Producers Association. |
