TripleNine Fish Protein, better known as 999, is a co-operative owned by the suppliers and has been involved in the business since 1948.
TripleNine has been established through a merger of the fish meal factories in Esbjerg, Hvide Sande and Thyborøn. Production takes place in the major fishing port Thyborøn on the west coast of Denmark.
The choice fell on the Norwegian Vedde AS with its subsidiary Lota in Chile, and TripleNine's Board of Directors has decided to recommend a merger of TripleNine and Vedde AS with effect from 1st January 2013. Vedde is owned by the Norwegian family-owned business Koppernæs AS.
The merger is completely in line with TripleNine's conversion from a cooperative to a limited company on 1st November 2012 and was anticipated in the structure illustrated in the latest edition of 999 NEWS
Following the merger, the new company, which will be named TripleNine Group A/S, will have production facilities in Norway, Denmark and Chile, as well as owning 50% of a trading company in Norway plus affiliate companies in Mauritania, South Africa, Turkey and Greece.
