ASEAN Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016 : ASEAN Seafood for the World

The FAO State of the World Fisheries and Aquaculture 2014 reported global capture fisheries production of 91 million tons and aquaculture production of 67 million tons (valued at US$ 137.7 billion) with a total fisheries production of 158 million tons. The Southeast Asian region is one of the world's major fish and fishery production areas, accounting for about 20% (40 million tons) of the total global production in 2012. The fisheries production of ASEAN countries accounts for about 20% (18.4 million tons) of global capture fisheries production and 32% of global aquaculture production (21.2 million tons). The significance of fisheries in the ASEAN region is even greater when livelihoods of people supported by fishing and aquaculture is taken into account. The Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum is one of the important activities of Asian Fisheries Society as it provides an international platform for distinguished scientists from all over the world to discuss the issues pertaining to sustainable fisheries and aquaculture in the Asia-Pacific Region. The forum has been convened ten times to date, around the ASEAN region The Department of Fisheries, Thailand, in collaboration with the Asian Fisheries Society, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, GLOBEFISH, INFOFISH, the Network of Aquaculture Centres in the Asia-Pacific, and the Southeast Asian Fisheries Development Center are proud to host the ASEAN Fisheries and Aquaculture Conference and Exposition 2016: ASEAN Seafood for the World and the 11th Asian Fisheries and Aquaculture Forum and Exhibition: ASIAN Food Security for the World from 4 to 6 August 2016, at the Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Centre in Bangkok, Thailand. We also welcome traders, producers, scientists, researchers from around the world to attend this remarkable exposition and conference.
