Svanøy Havbruk produces nutritious and delicious rainbow trout at four locations in Kinn municipality. We are concerned with local value creation and sustainable and efficient food production.
Svanøy Havbruk is today a solid company and the largest employer on Svanøy with 26 full-time employees. People commute to the island instead of "the other way" to the city of Florø. We produce edible fish and broodstock at four sites in the sea, as well as roe and juvenile fish on land. We are co-owners of Sande Settefisk at Rygg in Gloppen Municipality, together with two other fish farming companies. Here we are investing heavily in future-oriented smolt production. We are also proud to be a shareholder in Godfisken AS, where, together with 10 other fish farmers, we have invested in state-of-the-art standby and bleeding boats. We are thus helping to create activity and jobs in our region!
We specialize in rainbow trout, and are one of the few fish farmers in Norway who only have trout (and not salmon) in their cages. Trout is a fantastic product; healthy and tasty. Compared to Atlantic salmon, trout is redder in the flesh and has a naturally lower fat percentage. We believe that trout has enormous growth potential, and we are working on exciting projects to promote trout as a high-quality seafood product. All our fish is sold through Skaar Norway, which is also a shareholder. Our customers are located in Europe, Asia and the USA. Most of the fish is slaughtered at Slakteriet AS in Florø, a stone's throw away. See where we are located here. In addition to ordinary broodstock and food fish production, we have several exciting R&D projects that include trout roe (caviar) for human consumption.
