Australian Convenience Foods (ACF) evolution dates back to the 1970s. During this period, Melbourne based, Allvend Wholesalers, introduced Aussie Snacks microwave products to the Melbourne route market for the first time. In 1993, they became Tasty Hero Australia with six state based franchisees offering national supply. In 1996, this later became known as Australian Convenience Foods, a national manufacturer and distributor of food products.
In 1997, ACF formed a strategic alliance with their only major competitor, Go for it Fast Foods Pty Ltd, strengthening its microwave offering with Go 4 It’s leading brand, Microeasy.
As part of the alliance, the ACF business was represented nationally by the Melbourne head office, managing and promoting common branded products, including negotiating national pricing, for all six franchisee members.
In July 2002, all state offices merged into one business. The newly created parent entity, ACF Group, was formed. ACF also acquired Aussie Big Bite P/L the following year.
ACF Group Head Office thus developed a nationally coordinated manufacturing and distribution business focused on convenient fresh and frozen food solutions. In 2006, ACF merged with Kailis & France Foods, a WA based manufacturer of frozen meals. Kailis & France Foods underwent a name change in March 2008 and now trades as Vesco Foods Holdings Pty Ltd.
ACF remains a trading division of Vesco Foods and maintains a clear focus on its core fresh foods offer. ACF’s key proprietary products are marketed under the brand ready go eat
