The Regulatory Council of the Galician mussel is composed of representatives of producers and marketers of the mussel, as well as technical members of the Ministry of the Sea and the Health Consejerái Board of Galicia. The work prior to establishment of this body began in 1989 and in October 1994 the Council began its activities.
Currently, the Control Board 2300 are registered producers, owners of 3,137 raft and 45 companies that market the Galician Mussel, fresh and processed.
