In the company Vodomec doo, we are engaged in growing Californian trout. We have four fish farms at the locations of Pšata, Zalog, Ilirska Bistrica and Nova Štifta.

Our foundations were laid on the scientific foundations of the Faculty of Biotechnology in Ljubljana, and we build on them with our many years of practical knowledge and the introduction of good practices, both at home and around the world. We strive to achieve the highest standards in trout breeding and nutrition. We use the highest quality food from the Danish manufacturer Biomar, which complies with the highest quality and ecological standards. In 2008, the fish farm Pšata was the first in Slovenia to obtain the status of a disease-free fish farm on the list of the European Union. A few years later, the Ilirska Bistrica fish farm acquired the same status.

In the Pšata fish farm, we have the largest selection of trout breeding flocks in Slovenia, which also makes us the largest producer of trout roe and fingerlings. We are also engaged in the sale and cleaning of edible trout, which are prepared in a fish processing plant that is registered for the EU.
