Huutokoski Arvokala Oy is one of the oldest still active fish farming companies in Finland. We started fish farming at Joroinen Huutokoski in 1969. The company was founded by Lars Arvonen, whose son is our current CEO, Kaj Arvonen.
Environmentally friendly technology
In the early years, rainbow trout were produced in Huutokoski, the breeding of which had begun in Finland about a decade earlier. Initially, we used ponds for cultivation, but in the 2000s we switched to modern and environmentally friendly circulation technology.
Quality fish farmer
At present, we only produce rainbow trout as fry for other fish farmers. We produce lake trout for edible fish, which we sell under the Huutokoski brand.
Currently, our company has a production plant in Hola, in addition to the Huutokoski production plant in Hollola. Our group also includes Arvotec , a developer and producer of fish farming technology, and Carelian Caviar, a producer of sturgeon .
We operate in Huutokoski
Huutokoski is a village in the Joroinen municipality. Rautaruukki served from 1858 to the Huutokoski shore until the 1880s. Now there are Huutokoski's Arvokala production plants, which take their water from the rapids.
Brown trout
The latest new product is portion size brown trout.
Close co-operation in sturgeon farming
Arvokala is working closely with it daughter company Carelian Caviar in sturgeon and caviar production. Sturgeon meat sales started in autumn 2007.• importing of fish farming equipment
