The agreement, signed by the president of the CME, Javier Garat Pérez, and the president of Educación Azul, Mercedes Pardo Gil-Alberdi, represents a significant step for both institutions in their effort to bring the maritime sector closer to the population and highlight its strategic importance for the economic and social development of Spain. Thus, the agreement establishes the terms and conditions of this collaboration to advance the following specific objectives: increase the number of professional vocations in the maritime sector and its different subsectors, and improve the knowledge that Spanish society has of the blue economy.
Both parties consider it of interest to collaborate in joint actions that are aligned with the main activities of their respective institutions, especially aimed at increasing vocations in the maritime sector, making visible people in the sector so that they can be references for boys, girls and the young people. In addition, the opportunities that the sector offers in fields such as entrepreneurship, technology and sustainability will be disseminated, with the aim of ensuring an adequate generational change required by the maritime industry as a whole.
To guarantee compliance and effectiveness of the agreement, a monitoring commission will be established in charge of debating and approving proposals for activities, creating working groups and establishing specific norms and procedures for collaboration. In this way, the Executive Committee of the Spanish Maritime Cluster has already approved the first two specific actions, which will be developed over the next twelve months.
With this alliance, the Spanish Maritime Cluster and Educación Azul are positioned as key actors in the transformation and sustainable growth of the maritime industry, also representing a firm commitment to promoting equal opportunities and empowering female vocations in the sector.
