Janeiro, Brazil on the 13 and the 14th of June.

Exposustentat is the ideal meeting point for professionals and
companies to present and discuss the most important topics in
sustainability, impacts on the economy and sustaining the
environment. The first edition will focus on the challenge of Blue
Economy and Forestry in the country and the world, trying to find out
the best solutions to manage Sustainable Agriculture's Oceans’ and
Energy’s resources.

Friend of the Sea Director Paolo Bray will speak on Thursday
afternoon on the issue: “Sustainable fisheries in the future and the
role of the certification programs.” (To know the conference program

Seafood is one of the most important economic resource for the
country, and Brazilian production is getting more and more importance
worldwide.

Fishery activity supports the development of fishing centers in all
Brazilian regions. Due to the great proximity of the stocks and the
extensive coastline (8,500 km), with many available ports for the
operation of the fishing fleets, Brazil is near the three greatest
economic blocks and consumption markets in the world.

Brazil is also one of the countries with the highest growth in
aquaculture worldwide and has 12% of the world’s freshwater
reserves. Furthermore Brazil has a highly favourable climate for the
development of fish farming, and great extensions of favourable areas
to mariculture, which constitute the greatest potential sector for the
increase of the Brazilian fisheries production; the three main
commodities are marine shrimps, fresh water fish farming (tilapia,
trout, tambaqui, surubin, pintado, pirarucu), bivalve molluscs
(mussels, oysters and scallops).
