 BAP - Best Aquaculture Practices
Posición: Asia-Pacific coordinator

Nombre: Mr Ken Corpron

Aquaculture expert Ken Corpron has been selected as the new Asia-Pacific coordinator for Best Aquaculture Practices, the leading global certification program for aquaculture facilities.

Corpron has over 15 years of experience in the international aquaculture sector, in addition to nearly 10 years of experience in the aquaculture feed and farming industry of the northwestern United States.

Corpron was general manager of the B.P. Nutrition Aquaculture Centre in Songkhla, Thailand, for four years, where he worked closely with the Aquastar integrated black tiger shrimp-farming project. For the next four years, he advised shrimp farmers in India, initially for Rangen, Inc., and later for INVE Aquaculture.

Corpron also managed the 1,850-acre (750-hectare) Aqualma black tiger shrimp farm in Madagascar for seven years, during which time the farm was certified under ISO 9000:2001 and established the first application of the French free-range Label Rouge system for shrimp. Aqualma also passed the BAP shrimp farm certification standards with high scores.

In 2007, Corpron assisted with initial efforts of the BAP program to certify shrimp farms in Thailand. He then worked with Rangen, Inc., as director of aquaculture feed sales until his recent return to work with BAP.

Corpron spent eight years of his childhood in Thailand while his father worked as a medical missionary in a remote area near the Thai-Myanmar border on the Kwai River. He speaks the Thai language fluently.
