Dr Hunt has a Doctorate and thirty eight years practical experience in fisheries management. His career includes posts as Fisheries Scientist for the New Zealand Government, managing a major freshwater fishery basin in the United Kingdom, thirteen years in Fiji as Director of Fisheries and Managing Director of the State owned fishing Company and tuna canning plant, Pacific Fishing Company Limited (1977-1989), followed by twelve years as Managing Director of Royal Greenland Limited, the UK subsidiary of the World’s largest prawn producer in Greenland. He has published widely in International scientific journals.
For the past eight plus years Dr Hunt has been Director of the Shellfish Association of Great Britain influencing new fisheries policies for the United Kingdom with particular reference to the future sustainable management and development of shellfish exploitation, and the importance of shellfish when allocating space in the marine environment. In addition, Dr Hunt manages a Consultancy Company, Pandalus Limited, which established the Secretariat for the International Coldwater Prawn Forum.
Dr Hunt is responsible for the management of the SAGB and is the point of contact for crustacean matters. |
