Fish processing and distributing company, Deutsche See, has become the first major customer of Volkswagen in Germany to sue the automaker for the sale of diesel vehicles with a device to cheat on emissions tests.

Deutsche See, which is headquartered in Bremerhaven, and leases about 500 vehicles from Volkswagen, said it had been unable to reach an out-of-court settlement. Talks had broken down after Volkswagen replaced the relevant managers with lawyers and PR managers.
