National fishing reform represents significant progress for sustainable fishing, EDF states
To EDF, the proposed reforms could lead to a shift in the way other countries from the Asian-Pacific region will manage their fisheries.
(JAPAN, 12/11/2018)
Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) considers that the national fishing reform that Japan is planning to perform represents the most significant progress in the last 70 years in the country’s fishing legislation.
The non-government organisation also notes that the new reforms will create higher sustainability in Japan's fisheries and has the potential to signal a meaningful shift in how other countries in the Asia Pacific region manage their fisheries in the future.
