A few facts about our small town (village); |
Aalbaek: Founded about 400 years ago, but might be still older - even back to the year 1200 - 1300. |
Aalbaek means Eels Brook (today we still have a brook, but no eels) |
Position: 20 km from the northern top of Denmark (halfway between Skagen and Frederikshavn) |
Inhabitants: around 1500 - 1800. |
We live by fishing, agriculture, forestry and tourism. |
Fishing: Around 30 active boats, i.e. 3 trawlers of 40-50 feet, about 8 other gillnetting boats of around 40-50 feet too, and the rest smaller boats of various types. Far the biggest part of this fleet is gillnetting boats. |

Tourism: Only 1 hotel (very nice) worth speaking of, but a very large number of summer cottages for rent (from the primitive types to the most luxurious ones) Apart from this we have about 40 kilometers of clean and pleasant sand beaches. You are of course, allways welcome to have a closer look !! |
